Joe had a job at a supermarket. He wanted a promotion, but his boss always said, “Joe, you are not talented.”
Giuseppe aveva un lavoro in un supermercato. Desiderava una promozione, ma il suo capo diceva sempre: “Giuseppe, non sei talentuoso.”
One day, a man asked Joe to help him.
Un giorno, un uomo ha chiesto aiuto a Giuseppe.
“I need chillies, herbs and spices,” he said.
“Ho bisogno di peperoncini, erbe e spezie,” ha detto.
“Follow me, sir,” Joe said.
“Mi segua, signore,” ha detto Giuseppe.
Joe found the items quickly.
Giuseppe ha trovato gli articoli rapidamente.
“Next, I need bread and chocolate,” said the man.
“Ora ho bisogno di pane e cioccolato,” ha detto l’uomo.
Joe thought for a moment. He realised the man was making a Mexican dish. Joe’s mom was from Mexico. She showed him how to make the dish. He had cooked it many times. Every time, he made it better.
Giuseppe ha pensato per un momento. Ha capito che l’uomo stava preparando un piatto messicano. La mamma di Giuseppe era messicana. Lei gli aveva mostrato come preparare quel piatto. L’aveva cucinato molte volte. Ogni volta, lo faceva meglio.
“I know this dish,” said Joe. “I use a special ingredient.”
“Conosco questo piatto,” ha detto Giuseppe. “Uso un ingrediente speciale.”
“What is it?” asked the man.
“Qual è?” ha chiesto l’uomo.
Joe wrote his recipe on a piece of paper, and gave it to the man. The man was very excited.
Giuseppe ha scritto la sua ricetta su un pezzo di carta e l’ha data all’uomo. L’uomo era molto eccitato.
Joe’s boss found him. “Joe, you are wasting time. You should be at the till,” she said. Joe said goodbye to the man.
Il capo di Giuseppe lo ha trovato. “Giuseppe, stai perdendo tempo. Dovresti essere alla cassa,” ha detto. Giuseppe ha detto addio all’uomo.
The next day, the man came back. Joe’s boss said, “Yesterday, you wasted time because of him. Don’t talk to him. Tell him to leave.”
Il giorno successivo, l’uomo è tornato. Il capo di Giuseppe ha detto: “Ieri, hai perso tempo a causa di lui. Non parlargli. Dìgli di andarsene.”
But the man had a surprise. He took off his hat and glasses.
Ma l’uomo aveva una sorpresa. Si è tolto il cappello e gli occhiali.
Now, Joe and his boss recognised the man. He was a famous chef.
Ora, Giuseppe e il suo capo hanno riconosciuto l’uomo. Era un famoso cuoco.
“Joe, your recipe was delicious,” he said. “You are very talented. I want you on my television show.”
“Giuseppe, la tua ricetta era deliziosa,” ha detto. “Sei molto talentuoso. Voglio che tu partecipi al mio programma televisivo.”
They left in the chef’s fancy car. Joe could hear his boss shouting: “I said don’t talk to him!”
Sono partiti nell’auto di lusso del cuoco. Giuseppe poteva sentire il suo capo gridare: “Ho detto di non parlargli!”
