Dopo aver appena laureata, Giulietta ha deciso di intraprendere un viaggio celebrativo zaino in spalla attraverso l’Europa. Anelava avventure emozionanti e sperava di effettuare scoperte che cambiassero la sua vita. Eppure, mentre navigava attraverso il continente, si è trovata disincantata.
Having just graduated, Juliet decided to embark on a celebratory backpacking trip across Europe. She yearned for thrilling adventures and hoped to make life-changing discoveries. Yet, as she navigated through the continent, she found herself disenchanted.
A Parigi, mentre ammirava la Torre Eiffel e si concedeva delle crêpes, la città non le è sembrata magica come nei film. A Roma, nonostante la grandiosità del Colosseo e il sapore della pizza autentica, sentiva un senso di vuoto. Persino Londra, con i suoi iconici autobus rossi e l’imponente Big Ben, non è riuscita a suscitare l’eccitazione che aveva previsto.
In Paris, while she marvelled at the Eiffel Tower and indulged in crêpes, the city didn’t seem as magical as it did in movies. In Rome, despite the grandeur of the Colosseum and the taste of genuine pizza, she felt a sense of emptiness. Even London, with its iconic red buses and the majestic Big Ben, failed to stir the excitement she had anticipated.
Delusa, Giulietta ha deciso di tornare a casa in anticipo. Mentre aspettava all’aeroporto, si è ritrovata seduta accanto a un giovane con uno zaino consumato. Hanno iniziato a parlare, e lei ha scoperto che si chiamava Augusto.
Disappointed, Juliet decided to return home early. As she waited at the airport, she found herself sitting next to a young man with a worn-out backpack. They struck up a conversation, and she learned his name was Austin.
“Speravo di scoprire qualcosa di sorprendente nel mio viaggio,” ha detto Augusto. “Ma ovunque andassi – Parigi, Roma, Londra – mancava qualcosa.”
“I hoped to discover something amazing in my journey,” said Austin. “But wherever I went – Paris, Rome, London – something was missing.”
Giulietta ha descritto la propria disillusione.
Juliet described her own disillusionment.
Improvvisamente, un annuncio ha riecheggiato nel terminal. Il loro volo è stato cancellato per circostanze impreviste.
Suddenly, an announcement echoed through the terminal. Their flight was cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.
“Che fastidio!” ha esclamato Giulietta.
“How annoying!” Juliet cried.
“Forse è un segno,” ha detto Augusto. “Non siamo destinati a tornare a casa ancora.”
“Perhaps it’s a sign,” said Austin. “We aren’t meant to go home yet.”
Augusto si è rivolto a Giulietta con una scintilla audace negli occhi. “Che ne dici di continuare la nostra avventura insieme?” ha suggerito.
Austin turned to Juliet with a daring spark in his eyes. “How about we continue our adventure together?” he suggested.
Per la prima volta da quando era iniziato il suo viaggio, Giulietta ha sentito un brivido di eccitazione. “Forse,” ha pensato, “l’avventura che speravo è appena cominciata.”
For the first time since her journey began, Juliet felt a thrill of excitement. “Perhaps,” she thought, “the adventure I had been hoping for has just begun.”
