Un giorno di sole, un palloncino rosso era nel parco con una giovane ragazza. All’improvviso, il palloncino ha lasciato la sua mano e è salito nel cielo.
One sunny day, a red balloon was in the park with a young girl. Suddenly, the balloon left her hand and went up into the sky.
“Ritorna!” ha detto la ragazza.
“Come back!” the girl said.
Voleva scendere di nuovo. Ma il palloncino è salito sempre più in alto.
It wanted to go down again. But the balloon went up and up.
Prima, è galleggiato sopra gli alberi. C’era un vecchio uccello che riposava in cima.
First, it floated over the trees. There was an old bird resting at the top.
“Non andare più in alto,” ha detto il vecchio uccello. “Non ti piacerà.”
“Don’t go higher,” said the old bird. “You won’t like it.”
“Devo,” ha detto il palloncino.
“I have to,” said the balloon.
Il palloncino è galleggiato sopra il parco. Ha visto i bambini giocare e ridere. Alcuni di loro stavano giocando a calcio. C’era un ragazzo che era da solo. Stava guardando i bambini giocare. Gli altri bambini non giocavano con lui.
The balloon floated above the park. It saw children playing and laughing. Some of them were playing football. There was one boy who was on his own. He was watching the children play. The other children weren’t playing with him.
Si è spostato più in alto e ha visto un mercato. Lì, ha visto persone che compravano e vendevano cose. Sembravano occupati. C’era una famiglia numerosa al supermercato. Il padre stava comprando molti frutti e verdure per la loro cena.
It moved higher and saw a market. There, it saw people buying and selling things. They looked busy. There was a large family at the grocery store. The father was buying lots of fruits and vegetables for their dinner.
Poi, il palloncino è salito molto in alto. Ha visto l’intera città sotto di sé. Ha visto case grandi e case piccole. Ha visto persone ricche e persone povere, persone anziane e giovani.
Then, the balloon rose very high. It saw the whole city below. It saw big houses and small houses. It saw rich people and poor people, old people and young people.
Sembravano tutti diversi, ma sembravano anche uguali. Ridevano, piangevano, e avevano sogni.
They all looked different, but they also looked the same. They laughed, cried, and had dreams.
Infine, il palloncino ha iniziato a perdere aria. Lentamente, ha iniziato a scendere. Stava cadendo di nuovo in un parco. Sembrava lo stesso parco.
Finally, the balloon began to lose air. Slowly, it started to come down. It was falling into a park again. It looked like the same park.
Ma quando il palloncino è arrivato, non ne era sicuro. L’erba e gli alberi erano gli stessi, ma sembravano diversi. La ragazza non c’era. Il palloncino la rimpiangeva.
But when the balloon arrived, it wasn’t sure. The grass and the trees were the same, but they looked different. The girl wasn’t there. The balloon missed her.
