Ogni mattina, Arianna indossa un tailleur e va a lavorare in città. Ma prima, visita sempre Piccola Tazza Calda, un caffè sulla sua strada. Fanno il miglior caffè del mondo.
Every morning, Ariana wears a suit and goes to work in the city. But first, she always visits Little Hot Cup, a café on her street. They make the best coffee in the world.
Arianna si siede e beve il suo caffè per cinque minuti. È tranquillo, e il caffè è delizioso. A lei non piace il suo lavoro. Lavora molto duramente. Ma ama bere il suo caffè. È il suo momento preferito della giornata.
Ariana sits and drinks her coffee for five minutes. It is quiet, and the coffee is delicious. She doesn’t enjoy her job. She works very hard. But she loves to drink her coffee. It’s her favourite time of the day.
Un lunedì, Arianna si sveglia. Si sente stanca. Non vuole andare a lavorare. Ma pensa al caffè, e si sente felice.
One Monday, Ariana wakes up. She feels tired. She does not want to go to work. But she thinks about the coffee, and she feels happy.
Va a Piccola Tazza Calda. Ma quando arriva, qualcosa non va. Le luci sono spente. La porta è chiusa. C’è un pezzo di carta sulla porta. Dice “Chiuso Definitivamente”.
She goes to Little Hot Cup. But when she arrives, something is wrong. The lights are off. The door is closed. There is a piece of paper on the door. It says “Permanently Closed”.
Arianna ha voglia di piangere. Guarda attraverso la finestra. Il proprietario è seduto a un tavolo. Anche lui sembra triste. Arianna entra.
Ariana wants to cry. She looks through the window. The owner is sitting at a table. He looks sad too. Ariana goes inside.
“Cosa è successo?” chiede lei.
“What happened?” she asks.
“I miei costi sono troppo alti,” dice il proprietario. “Devo chiudere.”
“My costs are too high,” the owner says. “I have to close.”
Arianna pensa di poter aiutare. “Sono un contabile,” dice lei. “Forse posso aiutare.”
Ariana thinks she can help. “I’m an accountant,” she says. “Maybe I can help.”
“Davvero? È meraviglioso!”
“Really? That’s wonderful!”
Il proprietario mostra ad Arianna un sacco di numeri. “Non li capisco!” dice lui.
The owner shows Ariana lots of numbers. “I don’t understand them!” he says.
Ma Arianna capisce subito i numeri. Dà al proprietario alcune idee. Dice “Buona fortuna,” e va a lavorare.
But Ariana understands the numbers immediately. She gives the owner some ideas. She says “Good luck,” and she goes to work.
Un anno dopo… Arianna si sveglia. Si sente stanca, ma pensa a Piccola Tazza Calda. Ci va con un sorriso. Le luci sono accese. La porta è aperta. L’odore del caffè è fantastico.
One year later… Ariana wakes up. She feels tired, but she thinks about Little Hot Cup. She goes there with a smile. The lights are on. The door is open. The smell of coffee is fantastic.
Entra. Si siede e si gode il suo caffè per cinque minuti. Poi va nel piccolo ufficio in fondo. Entra.
She goes in. She sits down and enjoys her coffee for five minutes. Then she goes to the little office at the back. She goes inside.
“Benvenuta al lavoro,” dice il proprietario. “Te l’ho detto? Sei la miglior contabile del mondo.”
“Welcome to work,” says the owner. “Did I tell you? You’re the best accountant in the world.”
